The best way to Remove Stains and Pet Odors from Rugs
Soon we will be closing our homes up for the cooler weather, leaving us all face-to-face with rugs and floor coverings that appear to be and smell less than refreshing: A wine spill here, a family pet accident there-and you can end up with a genuine mess underfoot
Here are several great formulas that really work to take out grease stains, gum, food and dark wine stains, as well as cat mistakes Discover how to have sweet-smelling, fresh-looking rugs, safely and naturally.
Always try these formulas with a bit of rug which is out of sight first, to make sure they won’t cause discoloration or fading.
To Remove Red Wine Spots:
It’s simpler to get rid of stains when they are fresh. First, blot, then dilute with warm water and blot again. Then:
Method 1: Pour on a little bit of milk, white wine, or club soda. Blot and wash with warm water and liquid detergent.
Method 2: Mix equal parts liquid detergent and fresh peroxide (it loses its usefulness if it’s old) and apply at stain. Blot and reapply if needed, then use warm water to wash. Let it dry.
To Eliminate Juice and Berry Stains:
Blot and dilute the stain, then apply straight white vinegar. Rinse with warm water.
To Take Off Chewing Gum:
Get rid of as much of it as you can Then apply ice cubes on the gum still remaining in the carpet to freeze it: the gum becomes simple to pick out of the rug fibers.
To Clear Out Grease Stains:
First, blot away as much of the grease as you can. Then apply straight isopropyl alcohol on the stain. Blot, then wash with warm water and liquid detergent. If it doesn’t get it all, apply a few drops of new hydrogen peroxide and blot, then wash again with warm water and detergent.
Good smelling Carpet Freshener
Mix 2 cups of borax and Twenty-five drops pure essential oil, making sure the oil is evenly spread all over the borax. Shake this mixture liberally over your carpeting and permit to stay on for several minutes, then vacuum
